O projeto ATTO - Amazon Tall Tower Observatory (https://www.attoproject.org/) está oferecendo uma vaga para biólogo / micologista / ecologista com mestrado ou doutorado. Com instalações exclusivas, centradas em torno da torre de 325 metros e duas torres de 80 metros a cerca de 150 km a nordeste de Manaus, o projeto ATTO fornece uma plataforma sem precedentes para estudar o papel da floresta  tropical nos processos do sistema terrestre e clima. A vaga é para trabalhar com comunidades criptogâmicas e seu papel no ciclo de bioaerossóis e gases traço na floresta Amazônica. Conhecimento sobre fungos tropicais ou comunidades criptogâmicas seria vantajoso. O/A cientista deverá residir desejavemente em Manaus e ter disponibilidade para trabalho de campo, onde interagirá com grupos nacionais e internacionais envolvidos no projeto.  Maiores informações na chamada abaixo:

 

Postdoc or post master position for biologist/mycologist/ecologist in ATTO project, Brazil We announce an open postdoc or post master position for a biologist/ecologist/mycologist in the Brazilian-German Amazon Tall Tower Observatory (ATTO) project (www.attoproject.org). With unique facilities, centered around the 325 meter tower and two 80m towers about 150 km northeast of Manaus, ATTO provides an unprecedented platform to study the role of Amazon tropical forests in Earth system processes and climate. The towers are equipped with instruments to measure greenhouse gases and their isotopes, reactive trace gases, aerosols and clouds, as well as micrometeorological data to study forest energy and carbon balance. Additional projects investigate the processes that give rise to observed forest-atmosphere exchanges. Research within the ATTO project is divided into four major themes: 1. Regional greenhouse gas balance; 2. Physical climate: Energy, water, and winds; 3. Aerosols, clouds, and atmospheric processes; 4. Processes regulating land-air exchange. We are offering a postdoc position on cryptogamic communities and their role in bioaerosol and trace gas cycling in the Amazonian rainforest. The scientist will be based at INPA, Manaus and interact with national and international groups involved in the ATTO project. Postdocs interested in the position must have a PhD in biology/atmospheric chemistry or related topics and a background in biology. Knowledge on tropical fungi or cryptogamic communities would be advantageous. We are looking for a candidate who is prepared to work in a self-contained manner but is also a good and reliable team worker. Comprehension of English is necessary, Portuguese is desirable. ATTO offers the opportunity to work in a unique, highly international scientific environment and offers the ability to interact with a range of interdisciplinary and international scientists. The position is for 1 year (starting as soon as possible) with a potential for extension in the case of renewed funding.
